In a sentimental mood...
I miss fbks!!! I am so ready to get back. Well, only a little longer. Tomorrow morning, bright and early, or whenever we roll out of bed, we'll be on our way. Get ready Patrick! I'm going to need some good long hugs.
At the same time I miss Juneau already. Hanging out with Tim this summer has been so much fun. I'm going to miss all our hiking and kayaking and dancing and just talking. (And fighting over who opens my door and who's going to pay for dinner and... yeah.) And my internship. I may have to go back next summer. It was definitely the most enjoyable job I've had yet.
Well, right now I'm sitting here at Nick's house. Nick's in the kitchen making breakfast. (He's a good cook!) Kate and I are both sitting here on the couch with our laptops working on our blogs and playing with pictures. A very nice relaxing morning.
My entire family was in Juneau just before I left, so it was very nice to see them all one last time. My sister is working too much but will start classes at UAS soon. My brother just took his GED and missed one math question. tsk tsk tsk. And he's starting at UAS this fall too. My mom had an interview on Sunday in Juneau. My dad is thinking about starting his own physical therapy clinic. And they're all generally moving to Juneau, which means that's probably where I'll be going for christmas break. So many changes. I just want to get back to school in fbks. Although there'll be lots of changes there as well.
My time here in Haines has been great though. Yesterday Nick, Kate and I climbed 3920. (That's how high the peak is.) It was soooooo absolutely gorgeous!!! Although I think I'm a bit biased towards Juneau mountains still though. Either they're taller or the alpine starts lower. And the alpine is my favorite part of any hike. I just can't get enough of the beautiful green and flowing meadows. That has got to be the ultimate place for rest and relaxation. Absolutely serene.
Well, time to do something else. Good day all! And I'll see all you fbksans soon!!!

Long time no write
It's been awhile since I've written in here. I've been keeping so busy and having a blast. Last weekend I went hiking and kayaking. Then work all week with various fun events, such as lunch with Rico and dinner and a walk downtown with Shelley (Nick's mom) and probably a lot more that I'm forgetting. (It's late, I ought to be in bed.) :P Today I went hiking with Tim, Nina and Rico. We hiked up Mt. Jumbo over on Douglas island. It was so beautiful and hot! Well, I'm going to go crash now. I've got dancing and kayaking and more dancing tomorrow, so I need my beauty rest. Goodnight all!

16 days and counting...
The countdown is on... I'm starting to get excited about getting back to Fairbanks! But this summer has been so absolutely worth it. :) I will definitely be seriously thinking about coming back next summer. There's still more mountains I want to climb!
Life is good. Very good in fact. I'm happy, I'm listening to great music, I've got friends who can't wait to see me again and who I can't wait to see again, my entire family is here for a few days, I got to dance salsa with Tim and Antonio this evening... Yeah, life is good. :)
Goodnight all!

Berry Picking!!!
Well, we couldn't go hiking today, so we went to dance practice, which was fun, of course. Then we decided to go berry picking. We headed back up the same trail we had gone up yesterday, but only a little ways and found tons of blueberries and red huckleberries. We picked a whole bunch of both. Tomorrow, after the worms are soaked out, ;) we're going to make blueberry/hucklberry/rhubarb cobbler. :D For dinner we made chicken tacos. They were excellent. Anyways, that was my fun for the day. Goodnight all!

Dancing and Hiking, OH MY!
Friday Night Dancing
Heather and Antonio, the salsa teachers here, invited all of us salsa students to their house for a party friday night. It was awesome!!! They had made peruvian food (where Antonio is from), which was excellent. Several different dishes, nearly all of which were awesome. I wasn't so fond of the one with raw fish in it, but that was entirely due to the raw fish, the rest of the dish was very good, kind of tangy and spicy. :D yum yum. They had made a peruvian drink, kind of like a punch, made with red corn. It was very good. Heather compared the taste to bubblegum with pineapple, but I don't think that's a very fair comparison. Not certain how I'd describe it, maybe a decent tasting koolaid with more flavor. Anyways, then there was lots of dancing on their tiny little living room floor which could hold a surprising amount of dancers. I think we had up to about 20 people dancing at the same time after awhile. It didn't allow for any super fancy moves, but we managed to put in plenty anyways. :) The music was great and basically every song was supplemented with people on maracas or various drums and other latin instruments. It was a blast. I slept well that night. :D
Saturday Hiking
I finally got to go on the hike I've been waiting rather impatiently for!!! Tim and I hiked up over Thunder mountain and down the other side to the glacier. It was soooooo absolutely beautiful!!! I took so many pictures, 320 to be exact. I'm going to try to get those on my website here soon. It was a very nice day for a hike: somewhere around 60 degrees and high clouds. Perfect weather. And the alpine meadows were simply gorgeous. I really felt like I was in a whole new world. And it was so quiet after we got over the top into the alpine meadow valley. Just the high pitched squeals of marmots every so often and the stupid helicopters that flew over or back every 20 minutes or so. It was so beautiful. Words simply cannot describe it and the pictures only capture a very basic idea of it.
One thing the pictures do do well is remind me how much I absolutely want to hike up there again but take a slightly different trail at the top. There's a peak on the opposite side of the valley that looks so beautiful and tempting. Tim and I both wanted to hike it today, but the clouds are too low. Well, for now I guess all we can do is hope that next weekend is nicer. *crossing fingers* Oh well, we'll go to dance practice instead. And speaking of such, it's time for me to get some clothes on and go to that. Good day all!
