Life, love, and everything else

What to say, what to say. So many things running through my head, but I only have a vague idea of what a few of them are. Let's see... *reaching out and snatching a random thought and attempting to decipher it*. Oh, here's one. "trip back to school". Hm... I need to call Nick and talk to him and also talk to Kate some more and make some decisions. Dang it, I hate making decisions when it's more than just me involved. Wait, I hate making decisions in general. :P Oh well, it'll be fun whatever happens. Could it possibly be not fun with Kate AND Nick around? *shakes head emphatically* No, there's no chance in the world that we won't have fun. :D So, since both of you read this blog occasionally, I'll lay out my vague plan so both of you can see (and everyone else, I don't care) and maybe I'll get around to actually talking to you guys more about it as well. So, Kate and I arrive in Haines early early Saturday morning. Drive out to Nick's house and crash cause we probably will have gotten absolutely no sleep yet. Sleep most of the morning at least, then just hang out or whatever Saturday afternoon. Stay at Nick's house Saturday night. Go for a good hike or something interesting on Sunday. Stay at Nick's house Sunday night. Monday morningish drive to Whitehorse, (preferably with Nick and a tent or two?) and find fun things to do there that afternoon/evening. Stay in/near Whitehorse Monday night. Tuesday morningish drive to Fbks. That's right, I still have to call res life and convince them to let us move in an evening early. Hm... if I didn't have to leave in 2 minutes to head back to work I'd call now. Ok, maybe after work if I can catch anyone, otherwise that's a todo for Monday. Alright, speaking of heading to work, I'd better actually do that. Good day all!

Hurrah!!!

Woohoo!  I finally finished my dress last night!  And then I started AND finished a duvet cover for my comforter.  :D  Yay!
Otherwise I'm just generally pretty happy right now.  Nothing too incredibly interesting besides the above.  Work has been interesting lately though.  Most of the phones at work are not working and we had a fire drill yesterday.  Plus we're still working on the financial statements and the auditors are here too, so there's plenty of fun stuff to do.  :)

Joe commented on my last blog that I'm having so much fun here in Juneau that I might not want to come back to fbks.  Won't want to come back?  I can't wait to get back to fbks!  But I am going to miss Juneau.  I definitely don't want to be here during the winter though.  It's only the most beautiful and fun when it's summer time.  But I very well might be back next summer.  :)  But no, despite all the fun I've been having, I still dreadfully miss fbks.

Somehow I'm scared to go back though too.  I feel like a different person down here.  I don't know if it's just that I'm in a different situation and therefore act somewhat differently or if I really have changed this summer.  I guess some of you guys up there will have to let me know when I get back.  ;)  And I know things will be different this year too.  For one I'll be in SAC this year, which will be a totally new experience, both in terms of having roommates and that it won't be the same atmosphere that we had in the dorms.  I'm sure they'll both be good changes though.

*sigh* I'm in such a strange mood right now.  I'm not sure how to describe it, but here's a few words that sort of fit:  ecstatic, in love with everything, including my body (I'm down to 124.5!!!), Josh Groban (I love his voice!), dancing (duh), and a zillion other things, anxious, and impatient.  Ah, well, that sort of describes it... partially.  Anyways, I'm off to go dancing again.  :D  Good day all!

Unbelievable!!!

Omg, I just had an absolutely fantastic evening of dancing.  Not to mention this whole weekend has been full of dancing, of a very different kind from last weekend.  Friday evening was a beginning salsa workshop and I got to be a leader.  :D  Then Tim and I went out to the Sandbar for the rest of the evening to do some dancing.  There were some good swings, east and west coast, and some other songs that made for good various dances.  This afternoon there was a cha cha and merengue workshop which was  a lot of fun, although I had to do cha cha starting on the 1, which was incredibly difficult.  :P  For dinner Tim and I came here to make smoothies... sweet and cold and healthy, just what two sweaty dancers needed.  ;)  Then we were back to the next salsa workshop, a continuation of Friday's.  Then we raced back here to change into something a little more fun for the dance/practice session.  Cynthia let me borrow one of her homecoming dresses which turned out to be a fabulous salsa/latin dress.  :D  The dance was so much fun.  My favorite part of it was when Antonio, the dance instructor, asked me to dance.  He is such an amazing dancer!  Dancing with him was by far the single best salsa dance I have ever danced with anyone.  It was so smooth and perfect, well, almost.  We did have one little mishap when he did a little lift and I ended up on my knees, but it was quick and I was back up dancing almost immediately.  It was a lot of fun though.  And Chuck and Tim were fighting over who got to dance with me next again.  :D  It's so funny to watch them signaling from across the room to try to catch me before the other could, or reserving dances in advance, almost as if I had a dance card.  lol  Well, my weekend of dancing isn't even close to over yet.  Tomorrow at noon is west coast swing practice, then hopefully we'll be able to dance a bit of other stuff after 1.  Then at 2 there's a women's salsa style class.  And then there's folk dancing at 6.  So I really ought to get to bed, seeing as it is just about midnight.  Goodnight all!

Tears

Why do I keep doing this to myself?
I talked to Travis a little bit on MSN this morning.  That was fine.  But he told me he had posted some new poems on his website.  So I went and looked at them.  Big mistake.  I should have known better.  I know he typically writes about the girls in his life, so I shouldn't have even looked at the poems because I'd rather not know right now.  I just need to get over this guy.  I mean come on, he dumped me.  Why should I still care about what he does or doesn't do?  Maybe it's that whole "accountant with a heart" thing.  Well, I do have a heart, it's just still broken.  I don't know what's going to finally fix it, but I'm hoping whoever or whatever it is doesn't take too much longer, cause this just plain sucks!
Sorry, thanks for letting me rant.  Good day all!

Ecstatic

Hm... so, to finish my last blog.
Let's just say Camp Damp was absolutely positively the most fun I've had in a long, long time and I am so absolutely definitely going to have to go to Dance Camp North now too.  :D

Yay!!! I just called the contact person for Dance Camp North and I'm in, with a scholarship!!! :D  And there's still some room for more people too.  (No more scholarships, but for paying people.)  Yes Tim, that means you're in!  If anyone else is interested, here's the link that tells about it and has the registration form.  http://www.mosquitonet.com/~gcn/cb/  It's going to be so much fun!

This morning I went to work at 5 a.m. to do a morning with investments.  It was fun and interesting, but way too early in the morning.  But I got off work at 1 p.m. because of it, which was nice.  I got my next sewing project all cut out this afternoon.  :D  Then Tim picked me up after he got off work and we went for a walk and then out to dinner to celebrate him getting a new job.  (Kind of a promotion.  He's excited.)  :)

This weekend should be fun.  There's salsa workshops and a dance this weekend, and Tim and I are hopefully going to go kayaking Saturday morning.  So I'll be keeping busy and having a blast!  Maybe we'll even make it to the Sandbar on Friday night for more dancing.  :D

Alright, I'm gonna go to bed.  I'm still trying to catch up on my sleep.  Goodnight all!

Wow!!! & Ow!!!

Those two expressions are exactly how I feel right now.  Camp Damp was awesome!  I had such a wonderful time.  I don't think I've ever had so much fun dancing.  :D  But I also hurt like hell right now, and my energy levels are down to zero.  My legs are beyond sore, mostly because they started out sore this morning and then I danced until 3:30 p.m. on them, despite the fact they were sore.  *sigh*  Oh well, that's what I get for dancing so much I guess.  :D  It really was a lot of fun though.
It all started Friday evening with a potluck/bbq with lots of good fish.  Then there was contra dancing that evening until about midnight.  The band for the weekend was Bag o' Tricks, and excellent contra band from the Seattle area, and the caller, Laura Me, was absolutely awesome.  Possibly even better than Lynn.  :-o  Everyone there was at the very least a good contra dancer, with some being downright amazing!
Tim let me borrow his 4-man tent to sleep in for the weekend and Friday night I slept like a rock.  Didn't get a lot of sleep, but it was enough for me to be wide awake and happy in the morning.  Saturday morning started at about 6 a.m. with kitchen duty.  Since I was there because of a kitchen scholarship, I got to be in the kitchen a lot, especially on Saturday.  But it was fun.  Tim quickly became the only person who could successfully get the dishwasher to work and I quickly learned, or decided, where everything was supposed to be put away.  So we ended up doing that after every meal for most of the weekend.  We had so much fun teasing each other while doing it that several people told us we were having way too much fun washing and drying dishes.
Saturday was full of workshops and dancing.  For the workshop just before lunch, Chuck and I taught a waltz class.  That was a lot of fun.  We had chosen some cool moves to teach and just about everyone picked them up very well.  After lunch there was a square dancing workshop which I probably should have done, but my feet (and body) needed some rest, so I laid down in the tent and kinda slept.  The next workshop I went to was singing.  That was fun, and good for just after a nap.  We sang all kinds of songs, many of which I'd never heard of before, but it was still fun, especially since I had the words in front of me, I was able to sing along fairly well.  Then there was a hambo class.  That was a lot of fun!!!  Hambo is a swedish dance done to 3 count music and it's not incredibly difficult, but the pivots are definitely tricky.  It was fun though, and Tim and I got pretty good at it.
Saturday night there was more dancing after dinner until about 12:30 or 1 a.m.  So many awesome contras and I even did a square dance which made me decide I actually kinda like square dancing.  So Brad, we might have to hit some of those square dances in Fbks now.  :D  Lots of fun dancing though, and lots of great partners to dance with.  Sometimes I felt like I was being fought over, especially when it came to the waltzes.  Chuck and Tim kept racing over to ask me to waltz anytime one started and then they started trying to save them ahead of time.  :)  It was amusing and fun and nice to know I didn't have to worry about not having anyone to dance with.
Well, it's getting late and I'm so tired I can't focus on what I'm writing.  (Not to mention the tv is on and focusing on anything else is nearly impossible.)  I'll finish tomorrow.  Goodnight all!

Leeann emailed me today! She successfully completed her climb up Mt. Adams, and (this is the really sweet romantic part) she was proposed to at the top! How cool is that? Hm... if only I can find a guy some day who will be half that good at picking a good time to ask. ;) No pressure! Haha.

In other news: My job loves me so much they want me to work an extra week! This is cool because I have to be here for that week anyways, so as long as I can get my car packed, I'd love to make money too! So now I should be working through the 19th of August. Then that Friday, the 20th, will be the last push to finish packing my car and that night I'll get on the ferry that Kate will have already ridden all the way from Bellingham. :D I already warned her not to plan on sleeping much that night. ;) I should caution her that I might end up falling asleep unwittingly though, seeing as my sleep schedule will still be near the 9:30 p.m. bedtime mark. That or I'll be extra hyper, which can be worse. :S Now I just have to plan the rest of the trip. We've got about 4 days between the time we get off the ferry in Haines until we can move into our apartment at UAF. So, we're planning on taking a little detour on the way north and stopping by Whitehorse! I've never been there and Kate says she hasn't actually been there, so it'll be a fun experience. I need to find out what there is to do there still though. Everyone seems to like going there, but so far I'm still trying to figure out why. (Besides the rather unhelpful answer of, "It's not home.")

Time for me to think about heading back to work now. Good day all!

weird people and contra dancing... hm... aren't those synonymous?

So, I showed Tim my website and now he thinks I'm "an accountant with a heart", which he says is a "weird combo". *shrug* Oh well, no one ever blamed me for not being a little strange.

I'm going to Camp Damp this weekend! (A contra dance camp.) I finally decided I wanted to go badly enough that I would work in the kitchen for a day in return for getting to go for free. And my sister might go too. She's currently complaining that if the weather isn't good she doesn't want to go though. :P Of course it's going to rain a bit, but that's what it does in SE Alaska! But whatever, she can do what she wants. I'm going though, and I'll be borrowing one of Tim's tents. I haven't gone tent camping in, hm..., the last time must have been in the 8th grade. So yeah, it's been awhile. They do have cabins there too, but a tent will make it more interesting. So anyways, that's what I'll be doing Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Speaking of contra camps... I need to find out from Brad if he's found out anything new about the one in Fbks. If I end up loving this one, which I'm sure I will, then I'll probably want to go to that one too, if possible. Well, one step at a time.

Time for me to head back to work now though. Good day all!

You can have your smoke back Fairbanks, you seem to have lost it down here :P

Yes, it's smoky. Dang it! Fortunately nothing like what I was told it was like in Fairbanks, but it's still smoky. It's making everything hazy and there's just a hint of the smell of smoke on the air. Otherwise the weather is beautifully sunny again, although not nearly so hot this time, thank god! It's been getting up to around 70 each day, perfect temperatures. I'm hoping to go for a hike or something on Saturday. We'll see what the weather looks like by then I guess. A little rain never killed anyone though, right?

Hm, I'm talking about the weather, so you can safely assume that there's not much exciting going on around here right now. Just working and dancing and edging on but not quite being bored.

Time for me to head back to work now, I think I'll walk back since it's a beautiful day. Good day all!

New changes...

Well, a new look for my blog and a new place to find it too! For those of you who didn't find it this way, my blog is now available through my website as well, http://asuaf.org/~salmonamanwich. Of course it's still available at the usual place, but this way you can check out my website and blog simultaneously.

Anyways... the last few days were fun. Chris arrived Wednesday night and we had all kinds of fun. Kayaking, hiking, fireworks, relaxing, good stuff. :) I'll try to get pictures up on my website soon.

Well, I'm not in a very talkative mood right now, so goodnight all!

Bored? Like, really, insanely, ridiculously bored?

Here's something for those people who just need to talk to someone when there's absolutely no one to talk to.

http://www.alicebot.org/

Go check it out and have a little chat with Alice. At the very least it'll be amusing. :) I thought it was.

Needs - Collective Soul

All around me
I see what weakness has made
Too much tomorrow
I think I’ll take all today
Am I a poison?
Am I a thorn in the side?
Am I a picture-perfect subject tonight?

And I don’t need nobody
I don’t need the weight of words to find a way
To crash on through
I don’t need nobody
I just need to learn the depth or doubt of faith
To fall into

Here I slumber
To awaken my daze
I find convenience
In this savior I save
Am I a prison?
Am I a source of dire news?
Am I a picture-perfect reason for you?

I don’t need nobody
I don’t need the weight of words to find a way
To crash on through
I don’t need nobody
I just need to learn the depth or doubt of faith
To fall into

In this time of substitute
It’s my needs I’ve answered to
All the while
And all the hope that I invest
Turns to signals of distress
All the while

I don’t need nobody
I don’t need the weight of words to find a way
To crash on through
I don’t need nobody
I just need to learn the depth or doubt of faith
To fall into

(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
You’re all I need
(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
Yeah! When the water runs deep
(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
Yeah! You’re all I need
(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
Now I cry my soul to sleep

(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
You’re all I need
(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
You’re all I need
(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
You’re all I need
(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
You’re all I need

(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
(Oooh oo-oo-oo-oooh)
(Oooh oooh)
